The church was born in the intersection just a few feet from the current church property with 19 people in attendance of the service that was led by a ministry team from the Friends of the King church in Tipitapa. Over the last year, they have met in the road, in a borrowed home and in the school's kitchen. Pastor Aidalina and her ministry team have traveled 2 hours each way twice a week to care for their growing group. Their numbers have continued to increase to an average attendance of 80 and 8 new believers have been baptized. The first anniversary service was attended by about 180 including members of a team from Hillside Wesleyan Church in Michigan. They let the missionary preach and although it was not one of his better messages one person prayed to receive Christ. Afterward. all enjoyed the food and fellowship. Praise God with us for the lives that have been changed as a result of this ministry and the community that will continued to be impacted as a they continue to reach out and do great things to grow the Kingdom of God.

"In this place, God will do and is doing great things for His kingdom," exclaimed Pastor Osman at the first anniversary of the Matagalpa Wesleyan Church,as he challenged us to see the possibilities for ministries in the impoverished Sor Maria community. The structure where we gathered was quite primitive, wooden poles and tin roof, but the people assembled in celebration of this congregation's first anniversary were excited to have their own place to worship.
